Francesca & Ricardo's Sunset Beach Wedding | Punta Rocas - Lima, Peru

(*Text in English below photos)

They met serendipitously on a warm summer night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was December 12th, 2009, Francesca was living and working there, when Ricardo flew in for just one night to attend the annual party of his company. From the balcony of the restaurant, he spotted her walking down the street with her friend and could not take his eyes off of her.

"He came down to the street and began to follow us around several bars, until I almost got pissed off and asked him what it was he wanted ... and he said 'to get to know you'"

They started talking and at the end of the night he asked for her email. Once back in Sao Paulo, he wrote her the next day and they continued talking for a month until she went to visit him -- that's when their romance officially began. They kept their relationship long-distance between Rio and Sao Paulo for six months, spending their salaries on airfare to see each other every weekend until Francesca finally moved in with him in Sao Paolo for a couple of months. With her visa expired, she had return to her homeland of Italy, and this when Ricardo first proposed marriage... and she refused.

"That was mean of me! But I had to return to Italy to work there for a while and then I went to Mongolia in China. After that I had to come to Peru for the same job. Throughout the years we have met several times in Brazil, Italy, China, UK, Switzerland, South Africa and lord knows where else! Airports have always been the background for our story and we've chased each other around the globe for a long time. This is why I think our wedding represents who we are."

And so they were wed at dusk on a beautiful summer day in December at Punta Rocas beach in Lima, Peru. It was a very international wedding with people from all over the world - even the priest was from Ghana, Africa. The ceremony and reception were full of joy, several languages, many tears and laughter. I loved being a part of the climax of this unique and inspiring romance. Thanks for everything and I wish the lovely couple all the best of luck in their new life together (finally) wherever they may be.
