Chanel & Carey's Silver Lake Wedding Celebration

There's nothing like a group of friends that knows how to really let loose and have a good time. As a
wedding photographer, I love capturing those moments when everyone is having a total blast, especially the bride and groom.

Chanel and Carey's wedding at the fabulous El Cid, in Silver Lake, was definitely one of those weddings that feel like one BIG party.

I loved the fact that the couple had already been married during COVID a year prior and did this symbolic ceremony and reception in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, just to share their joy with their friends.

Lots of love, lots of dancing, and lots of fun times - Chanel and Carey’s wedding celebration was all about friends making unforgettable memories together.

Meet Chanel And Carey

When I asked them about how they met, Chanel gushed, "We met because I was traveling for fun with a girlfriend, and a girl who Carey knew posted a photo of me on Instagram. He then started following me but then unfollowed me because he thought if one day we met, it would be creepy that he was already following me! We then had a couple of run-ins in LA, but they never turned into anything. Then one day, I was shooting with another model who is from Australia, and Carey saw her post a photo with me and made a comment about how he’s been trying to go on a date with me for forever, and she said she’d set it up (and she did!) - she vouched for him and said he was incredibly sweet, funny, and a big nerd so I agreed to go out with him, and the rest is history."

Chanel And Carey’s Silver Lake Wedding Celebration

Chanel and Carey's wedding celebration was one of the most colorful and lively events I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. From the moment I arrived at the venue, I could feel the energy and excitement in the air. The bride looked gorgeous in a bright and colorful dress, while the groom looked dapper in a bottle green suit. They make an amazing couple, and their love for each other was evident in every single photo. I adored that these two were so laid-back and REAL and were just there to have a good time with their loved ones.

From the decorations to everyone’s (including the bride and groom) attire, there were beautiful vibrant colors everywhere. The wedding party was ready to have a good time, and they certainly did not disappoint. Their "flower boys" giving out beers was an awesome touch to the festivities. This really was such a unique and customized wedding celebration, and I was so excited to photograph all the little elements that made it so different from a traditional wedding celebration.

One of my favorite moments from the day was when the couple honored Chanel's late father, who recently passed away, by having their guests wave white bandanas in his honor. It was so epic when they entered the ceremony dancing and jumping around (the two of them, since Chanel’s father couldn't walk her down the aisle), and everyone was waving the bandanas around. I genuinely adored this couple’s energy, and even their guests were so warm and welcoming. Carey’s brother, Sam, officiated the ceremony. Chanel and Carey looked so incredibly happy and in love, and it was such a joy to capture their happiness through the photos.

This group definitely knew how to have a good time. The dancing did not stop, and I had a blast capturing all of the revelries on camera. There was an amazing band called Albert And His Dreamboats that rocked the first half of the reception. Carey is a talented drummer and joined them onstage for a song or two, then many of the family members got on stage for a sing-a-long. The DJ after that was amazing and dropped an epic Eurodance/early 2000s dance party mix that was seriously mind-blowing, and it was one of the best parties I've been to in years. In the end, I even stayed for an hour longer after my shift was over just to dance and have an amazingly yummy Mezcal Margarita.
