South Florida Wedding Photographer | Backyard Wedding for Natalie & Gilbert

Where there’s love, there’s a way - this is what Natalie and Gilbert proved to be true at their beautiful Pembroke Pines backyard wedding. Since only limited friends and family could attend due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Haitian-Belizian couple opted to broadcast their special day via Zoom so loved ones could tune in from all over the world.

Filled with love and delicious food, Natalie and Gilbert celebrated their big day alongside around a dozen key guests that helped make it all happen and, of course, their 4-year-old daughter Zhri, whose aptly chosen name means ‘beautiful’ in Swahili.

I had the honor of photographing candid moments between bride and groom while a close friend digitally transmitted the ceremony on an iPad. This online broadcast was especially important for Natalie’s mother as precautions prevented her attendance at their intimate South Florida wedding.

Officiated by Gilbert’s mother, who serves as a spiritual guide for the couple, the wedding ceremony included Native American traditions to honor his Mexican-Hawaiian heritage. The pair was cleansed with sage by his cousin in a beautiful blessing that truly captured the essence of this soulful, spiritual event.
